AH! A SUMMER DANCE PROGRAM 2025

A PREHISTORIC GOOD TIME

AH! A SUMMER DANCE PROGRAM 2025 was filled with research, discovery, play, and most importantly JOY. We had 48 participants pass through the space this year offering their unique curiosities, perspectives, and passions while effortlessly creating a culture of respect, care, and support. Our faculty fearlessly led these dance artists into the thickest parts of the jungle where new movement patterns could be unlocked and physical epiphanies could be had, all with a shared approach to research that was led with kindness and encouragement.

Artists who were able to commit to the full week also received the opportunity to receive Ilan Lev Method treatments in order to rejuvenate their dancing bodies as well as the chance to experience a short but tall (like T-Rex tall) creative process with BEMOVING’s Artistic Director Bret Easterling.

This year’s workshop was graciously hosted by Stomping Ground LA, who generously allowed us to hang a jurassic-sized and themed backdrop, ensuring good vibes were had by all who entered the space.

A SHARING EXPERIENCE

“Something I love about BEMOVING’s educational programming is that they're decidedly process-based, steeped in research and time, and remove the burden of generating a product or outcome.

One of our major goals in building our roster of teaching artists is to find dancers who share those values and understand how research-based creative process shapes their work. As a result, throughout the week, while we were shifting between styles and perspectives, there was a shared continuity and language about how the work was approached.”

HOPE IN MOTION

“I could really feel the intentional time and care spent establishing a safe and playful space to practice and research — I went in knowing my values were aligned with BEMOVING's, but living in that space for a week really allowed me to focus on discovery with a regulated nervous system. I felt safe to deviate from what I "should" look like or really thinking about what I looked like at all, and was able to find so much more integrity in my movement research.

I also loved feeling the shared lineage and linked values among the faculty. Being reminded of and introduced to new pathways of movement generation and creation was a really rewarding brain workout. And proof that there are folks out there making stuff, valuing process, interested in the sustainability/longevity of the body and the individuality of the humans involved — that made me really hopeful.”
